About

Ultimate Vocal Remover is a free, independent tool that splits a song into a vocal track and an instrumental/karaoke track — entirely inside your browser, on your own device. No account, no upload, no cost.

What it actually does

It uses a classic audio-engineering technique called center-channel phase cancellation: most commercial music mixes pan the lead vocal dead-center, identical in the left and right channels. Subtracting the channels cancels that centered content, leaving an instrumental/karaoke track; adding the channels keeps mostly the centered content, giving an approximate vocal isolate. All of the math runs on plain audio sample data decoded by your browser's Web Audio API — nothing is uploaded, and there's no AI model to download, so results appear in seconds. See the full How it works section on the homepage for the details.

Why we named it what people search for

We built this because people specifically search for "ultimate vocal remover online" and similar terms, clearly looking for a good web-based alternative to the well-known free desktop app Ultimate Vocal Remover (UVR). That app is excellent, but it's a desktop install, not a website. This tool exists to serve that specific "I just want to try this in my browser, right now" need — using a different, much simpler technology than UVR's neural network models. See the honesty section below.

What it is not, plainly stated

Who this is for

Karaoke practice, quick backing-track experiments, singing-along, sampling for personal practice, or just curiosity about how a "vocal remover" trick actually works — all free, instantly, without installing anything.

How your data is handled

Your song is decoded and processed entirely on your own device — see the full privacy policy for the complete picture, including the specific network requests the page does make (none of which include your audio).
